Many diesel vehicles produced by Subaru had no access to what is referred to as Forced regeneration after a DPF cleaning. Now this is done by OBDII with a simple click.
The process takes between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the temperature of the DPF and the amount of soot residue.
Required equipment
- Abrites AVDI interface connected over OBDII
- Abrites Diagnostics for Subaru software
- The vehicle in a safe, well-ventilated position for a regeneration cycle
Step-by-step procedure
1. Connect and select the function
With the AVDI connected over OBDII, open the service functions and select DPF regeneration.
2. Start the forced regeneration
Start the procedure and let it run.
3. Wait 10 to 20 minutes
How long it takes depends on the temperature of the DPF and the amount of soot residue.
Important notes
- Regeneration runs the exhaust very hot. Position the vehicle accordingly and keep the area clear for the full cycle.
- A wide variance in duration is normal - a cold, heavily loaded filter takes the longer end of the 10-20 minute range.
