Vehicle coverage: Toyota, Lexus and Scion instrument clusters with RH850 processors.
Required equipment
- Abrites AVDI interface
- A connection to both the OBDII port and the internal CAN bus, using CB012 or CB031 - RH850 clusters need both
Connection
For vehicles equipped with dashboard units with an RH850 processor you will need to connect both:
Unlike the S6J3 clusters, the internal CAN connection here is not optional — it is needed regardless of the gateway type.
Procedure
The procedure is identical to the one described for S6J3 clusters — you can read, write and restore. For the details of each operation, refer to Dashboard Calibration for Instrument Clusters with S6J3 Processors.
| Operation | What it does |
|---|---|
| Read | Reads the dashboard and displays the current mileage; a backup is created automatically. |
| Write | Re-reads the unit, creates a backup, then writes the new odometer value into the instrument panel. |
| Restore | Writes back a previously saved backup file, chosen from the list the software displays. |
Important notes
- The internal CAN connection via CB012 or CB031 is required for RH850 clusters.
- Backup file names typically include the processor type and the date and time of creation — use this to pick the right file when restoring.
- Keep a stable power supply connected throughout.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Likely cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No communication with the cluster | Internal CAN not connected | RH850 clusters need CB012/CB031 in addition to OBDII |
| Read fails partway | Unstable connection or power | Re-seat the CAN connection, connect a charger, and retry |
| Unsure which backup to restore | Several backups present | Match the processor type and creation timestamp in the file name |
